4. Obligations

Participants undertake not to use, incorporate or create any unlawful, discriminatory or offensive content in connection with their participation in the Hackathon.

Furthermore, participants undertake to disclose all sources used. Participants consent to presenting and publishing their work at the end of the Hackathon in a format determined by the Organizer.

Participants are generally responsible for providing their own hardware and software. The Organizer or the respective challenge sponsor may, however, provide specific software or licenses for use during the Hackathon. When using any software or content, participants are obliged to hold the necessary licenses and to comply with their terms.

The respective challenge sponsor may share confidential information with participants in the course of a challenge. Participants undertake to treat such information as strictly confidential and not to disclose it to any third party. The challenge sponsor may require participants to enter into a separate non-disclosure agreement (NDA). In such cases, participation in the respective challenge is conditional upon the signing of the NDA.

5. Data Protection and Image Rights

The processing of personal data by the Organizer, including any photographs and video recordings taken during the Hackathon, is governed by the Organizer's separate privacy policy.

6. Rights to Content

Participants retain all intellectual property rights in the work and content they create during the Hackathon. However, the Organizer shall receive a free, perpetual and worldwide license to use and publish the results for documentation and promotional purposes.

Participants undertake to submit only their own content and not to infringe any third-party rights.

Participants shall fully indemnify the Organizer against any proceedings, costs and damages arising from such infringements.

Participants are not entitled to use or display the logos or trademarks of the sponsors or the Organizer outside the Hackathon.

7. Prizes and Awards

Prizes and awards will be announced on the Organizer's website and are subject to the conditions stated therein.

8. Liability

Unless damage has been caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct, any liability of the Organizer and its auxiliaries for direct or indirect damage is excluded.

Participants are responsible for the safekeeping of their own equipment and belongings. The Organizer assumes no liability for loss or theft.

9. Exclusion of Participants

The Organizer reserves the right to exclude participants from the Hackathon in the event of violations of these terms and conditions or other serious disruptions.

10. Miscellaneous

The Organizer reserves the right to amend the rules and conditions, including these General Terms and Conditions of Participation, at any time. The version published on the Hackathon website (https://www.legalhackathons.org/) shall apply in each case.

Should one or more provisions of these terms and conditions be or become wholly or partially invalid or void, they shall be replaced by provisions that most closely reflect their legal and economic purpose. The validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.
